National Democratic Institute’s former board chair, the late Secretary Madeleine Albright, identified the violence women face online as a solvable problem.
NDI worked with more than 100 women around the world to develop a list of 26 interventions that technology platforms, governments, civil society organizations, and the media can take to make meaningful progress towards ending online violence against women. We are focused on finding ways to shift the burden of prevention around the world, moving away from individual women and towards a more systematic response.
An open, global and inclusive internet supporting an information space with integrity that allows for the equal and active participation of women and girls in all their diversity in politics and public life, is a necessary building block for democratic resilience.
