On April 11, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova hosted a Seminar regarding “Recovery of criminal assets, in the country and abroad – the experience of Moldova, France and Romania”. The event took place under the auspices of development partners from France, with speakers from the French Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets – AGRASC, from the National Agency for the Administration of Criminal Assets (ANABI) and from at the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (ARBI).
The event was attended by the Minister of Justice, the Director of the National Anti-corruption Centre, representatives of the Romanian Embassy and relevant institutions, representatives of the French Embassy and representatives of the relevant institutions from the Republic of Moldova.
Among the topics discussed were:
– Recovery of assets located on national territory – execution of national confiscation judgments (special and extended)
– Repatriation of criminal assets or their equivalent at the request of a foreign state (EU member and non-member state)
– Requests for legal assistance from the Republic of Moldova – discussions on hypothetical cases
– Evaluation and recovery of damage caused to the state in cases of corruption and embezzlement of public funds
During the discussions, the participants exchanged experiences and case studies from each country and analyzed the circumstances and feasible solutions, according to the country’s legislation.
