Ahead of the second Summit for Democracy on March 29-30 2023, the Cohort on Deliberative Democracy and Citizens’ Assemblies will hold an official (online) launch event on the 17th January 2023 at 4:00PM CET.
At the launch event, European Commission VP Dubravka Šuica will talk about embedding deliberative democracy at EU level, while Mr. Art O’Leary (Electoral Commission at the Irish government) will share the Irish experience with deliberative democracy. Iain Walker from NewDemocracy Foundation will talk about the concrete action of this cohort and how governments and other organisations can participate and make commitments ahead of the Summit. Finally Graham Allen, from the Citizens’ Convention on UK democracy will take us to ideas on the future of democracy and how this cohort is trying to help shaping those futures. The event will then open to comments and questions and answers.
