Artivism: Placing Artists at the Centre of Social Change

Art is a very effective catalyst for the dissemination of information. It breaks all kinds of barriers: generational, linguistic, geographical, emotional, temporal, racial, among many others. It turns the most personal processes into a political act.

Protecting this strategic tool for social change requires paying special attention to how creators can: exercise their rights, maintain their spaces, monetize their activities, stay safe and choose the topics that move them as a source of inspiration.

We’ve invited music, film, graphic arts and gastronomy makers and shapers to share with us how they contribute to building a better world and how they plan to reconquer public space after the pandemic and despite public policies that often do not promote freedom of speech or equal access to opportunities.
